Panayiotis Kokoras’, Kydoimos for orchestra commissioned and premiered by Athens State Orchestra, will be performed during the International Society of Contemporary Music – World Music Festival 2014 (ISCM-WMD) in Wroclaw, Poland. Kydoimos will be performed by the Świętokrzyska Philharmonic Orchestra, conductor Jacek Rogala, at the Wroclaw Philharmonic Hall on 9 October 2014.

University of Wisconsin-Green Bay based ensemble "a very small consortium" will be presenting a number of new miniatures including senior composition student Daniel Sabzghabaei's work, Fond Memories of a First Love. The concert takes place on 27 September 2014 at 7:30 pm in Fort Howard Hall of the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The concert will also be streamed at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/a-very-small-consortium.

Panayiotis Kokoras, Assistant Professor of Composition Studies, has been awarded First prize at the 7th Destellos International Competition of Electroacoustic Music 2014 in Argentina for his composition Jet for soprano recorder and electronics. With the intention to offer new possibilities to the creators, the Foundation Destellos attributes to the winner $600 US and subsequent performances by the Destellos Network. The Destellos Prix 2014 jury was composed of: Gilles Gobeil (Canada), Eric Chasalow (EU), Gregorio Jiménez (Spain), Federico Schumacher (Chile) and chaired by Elsa Justel.

Mimesis, a work by doctoral composer Michael Smith, was premiered in Perth, Australia by the Quanta Quartet during their August 2014 Australian tour.​

Oregon State Parks selected Alumna composer Christina Rusnak (MA 2010) to compose a work for the new Cottonwood Canyon State Park. Canyon Voices explores the natural and cultural heritage of the John Day River basin. In August 2014, The Life of Ashes, exploring Mt. Adams through the lens of wildfire, was premiered in Hood River Oregon commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Wilderness Act. In September 2014, Rusnak heads up to North Cascades National Park as Artist in Residence. Three of her jazz pieces, arranged by UNT alumnus arranger Dave Richards (MM 2010), are being released in November 2014 on Parma Recordings.

Senior composition student Daniel Sabzghabaei was recently selected as a finalist in the 2014 SCI/ASCAP Student Commission Competition for his piece Four Short Dreams for chamber ensemble and tape. His piece was selected from a pool of about 200 applicants and represented region 6 (Southern USA) in the final round of selection.

Senior composition student Daniel Sabzghabaei was one of six winners in the 2014 Cambiata Composition Initiative. His piece Mosjdeh Beh Bolbol Dehid, for two-part boys choir, solo violin, and piano, will be premiered at the 2014 MS/JH National Convention for Choral Music by the award-winning Lake Jackson Intermediate School Manchoir, conducted by David Hill, and violinist Caleb Mallett on Saturday 3 May 2014 at UNT.

On 27 April 2014, Mivos quartet will perform Panayiotis Kokoras' Holophony for string quartet during the Northwestern University New Music Conference (NUNC!) Panayiotis will also give a presentation titled "Ensemble Holophony Project: Perspectives on Instrumental Sound-based Composition."

Panayiotis Kokoras has been commissioned by Festival Mixtur to compose a piece for clarinet, piano, violin and cello. Ensemble Taller Sonoro will perform the piece on 25 April 2014 in Barcelona, Spain. Panayiotis will also coach a student’s composition workshop and give a short presentation on his piece.

Composition alumnus Cody Forrest (BM 2010) was a recipient of a 2014 ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composers Award. Cody was one of 27 composers selected out of nearly 630 submissions.

Eleven UNT-affiliated composers were selected to participate in the SEAMUS 2014 Conference at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT, 27-29 March 2014: faculty composer Jon Nelson; student composers Stephen Lucas, Mark Oliveiro, Clay Allen, and Jen Hill; alumni composers Paul Thomas, Greg Dixon, Eli Fieldsteel, Chapman Welch, and Peter McCulloch; and former faculty composer Butch Rovan.
